Can you leave a Google review without a Google account?

No. Google needs you to sign in before you post a review. But you don't need Gmail. You can create a Google Account with any email address you already use.

How to leave a review without Gmail

  1. Go to the Google sign-in page and click Create account. Choose For my personal use.
  2. Enter your name, then click Use your existing email.
  3. Type the email address you already use and click Next.
  4. Enter the code Google sends to that email, then set a password.
  5. Open the business’s Google review link, pick your stars, and post.

You only do this once. The same account works for every review after that.

Why Google asks you to sign in

Google doesn’t allow anonymous reviews. Every review is tied to a Google Account, and it shows the name on that account.

If you own the business

When a customer says they can’t leave a review because they don’t have Gmail, they can. Send them three things:

  • Your direct Google review link, not your website or your listing.
  • One line: “You don’t need Gmail. Any email works.”
  • A thank-you for the job.

If only a few of your customers leave reviews, look at the ask before you blame the account. Ask the same day you finish the job. Send the direct link. Follow up once if they don’t get to it.
